7th Annual Youth Summit

Over the past seven years, the Eat Smart Move More South Carolina Youth Summit has convened HYPE Project Youth Teams and youth from other youth-serving organizations from across the state to gather for an exciting day to celebrate their successes, meet other youth leaders, share stories of how they were able to advocate for change in their communities, and learn about ways to be engaged in their communities.

The Youth Summit offers many unique opportunities and experiences. This year's Youth Summit will have food, door prizes, music, exhibitors, lively sessions, a scavenger hunt, and more!

We are also excited to have a 2015 HYPE graduate, Moses Washington, join us as our keynote speaker.

PB&J Competition

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Russell House Ballroom at UofSC, volunteers can drop in to take part in an inclusive service event: The Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich-Making Competition. Volunteers with and without disabilities are encouraged to serve together in this unique and fun service event to benefit those in need in our community. Participants have the chance to win some prizes! All PB&J's made during the four hours will be brought to the 153 Project, a local organization that feeds many people in need every Wednesday night at Finlay Park. Last year, over 650 PB&J's were made. Come help us break our record! This isn't just for students - Volunteers of any age are needed!

Learn more and view pictures from last year's event at https://www.arcsc.org/mlk.

Email megan@arcsc.org with your volunteer interest.

How This Helps Our Community: This project provides an inclusive place for people with and without disabilities to come together to serve others. Often, people with disabilities are on the receiving end of volunteerism. This event not only allows them to give back to the community, but also lets the volunteers without disabilities learn more about all members of their community. The event also benefits those experiencing hunger and homelessness in our community by providing PB&J's to those in need.

Thank you to our partners and sponsors: The Arc of the United States, The University of South Carolina Leadership and Service Center, Publix Super Markets, Food Lion
